Free Energy Education Workshops
Ottawa County Community Action Agency will be offering a free Energy Education workshop in Holland. The Holland workshop will be held on Wednesday, August 23 from 6:00-8:30 pm in the main conference room of the Ottawa County Public Health Building (12251 James Street). The Energy Education workshop will focus on three areas - Conservation, Pollution Reduction, and Saving Money. Participants learn how to read and understand their energy bills and the impact of energy costs on household budgets.
“The only way to for people to control their energy bills is by making changes in their family’s use of energy. The cost of energy whether natural gas, electricity, or other is not expected to decline so people need to learn ways to save energy and save money,” says Carrie Rannow, Housing Resource Specialist for Ottawa County Community Action Agency and instructor for the Energy Education Workshops.
Participants in the workshop can expect a hands-on demonstration of how to install weather stripping, plastic window covering, outlet covers, etc. Workshop participants will also receive simple and practical tips, including minor home improvements that they can implement immediately in order to save money on their utility bills. At the end of the workshop, participants receive a free thermometer for their refrigerator.
