Michigan Works! Trade Adjustment AssistanceTrade Adjustment Assistance

Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) helps trade-affected workers who have lost their jobs as a result of increased imports or shifts in production out of the United States.

Certified individuals may be eligible to receive one or more program benefits and services depending on what is needed to return them to employment.

Some benefits of the TAA program may include Trade Readjustment Allowances (TRA), Alternative Trade Adjustment Assistance (ATAA), reemployment services, job search and relocation allowances, and the Health Coverage Tax credit (HCTC) program.

Should your company be certified under TAA? How would you know? The web site below is the place to begin your research.

Visit the Department Of Labor Employment & Training (DOLETA) website

This site offers the ability to search for TAA certification information on a specific company. This site also provides a link for the application process if your company is not certified. The web site is beneficial in answering a lot of the questions that arise when you start the application process, such as:

  • Who may file a petition
  • Who is covered by the petition
  • Assistance in preparing a petition

The Waiver Update Form is a form used ONLY by individuals who have been issued a Waiver in the past as it related to the Trade Adjustment Act. Download the Waiver Update Form .doc file.

If you think you may be eligible for the TAA program or if you have any questions please contact Amanda Keyzer at (616) 494-8820 or akeyzer@ocmwa.org or Bessie Larion at (616) 494-8840 or blarion@ocmwa.org.
