Sheriff's Office

Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office
Zeeland Charter Township

Sgt. Ryan DeVries, Supervisor

Mission Statement

To preserve public order, support the constitution of the State of Michigan and enforce all laws and ordinances of our state, county, and township while protecting the lives, property, and rights of all people in a professional and courteous manner.

General Information

In addition to those members of the Sheriff’s Office that routinely patrol and serve the greater Zeeland Township area, Zeeland Township has enhanced their policing efforts through the contracting of additional law enforcement services with the Sheriff’s Office. This partnership through contracting has existed since 1997 in the form of adding community policing initiatives in the township. In addition, the formation of a special partnership that involved Zeeland Township, Zeeland Area Public Schools and Ottawa County that supports the School Resource Deputy position at Zeeland Public Schools has significant involvement in the township during non-committed school hours. Zeeland Township is also involved in a traffic safety partnership with the Townships of Holland, Blendon, and Robinson where a Traffic Services Deputy has a focus on traffic related concerns in the township.

Community Information

Home Security Checks

Zeeland Charter Township, through its community police officer, provides free vacation security checks to its citizens who will be away from their homes, businesses, or other facilities for a period of time. Deputies will periodically check the exterior of the premises. This service is offered to deter potential burglars and provides additional security while your premise is unoccupied.
