Utility Assistance
If you’re behind on your utility bills, we may be able to help. Our Utility Assistance Program provides support for eligible Ottawa County households experiencing financial hardship. The application is quick and fully online, and our team will guide you through the process.

How to Apply
- Complete an Online Application
Submit and online application using the link provided. You’ll enter basic information for all household members and upload required documents. - Upload Your Documents
At Step 4, you’ll upload copies of your photo ID and proof of income for all adults in the household (last 30 days).
Submitting complete documentation helps us process your request faster. - Watch for a followup
We will email you if additional information is needed and for next steps for completing assistance. Please check your email regularly (or ensure your voicemail is set up if you don’t use email). Processing time is a minimum of 3 business days.
What You’ll Need
Please have the following items ready before applying:
- Photo ID for the applicant
- Names and dates of birth for all household members
- Proof of income for all household members age 18+ (last 30 days) OR an approved State Emergency Relief (SER) determination letter from MDHHS
- Most recent utility bills
Submitting these items helps determine eligibility.

- We cannot accept walk‑ins at this time.
- All in‑office visits require a completed online application and a scheduled appointment.
- Applications without complete documentation may be delayed.
