Walk for Warmth
Higher utility bills impact us all. For those families struggling to make ends meet, some will be forced to make the choice between putting food on the table or heating their homes. Walk for Warmth raises funds to help when other sources of assistance are unavailable.
Save the Date!
Walk for Warmth, an annual two-mile walk organized by the Ottawa County Community Action Agency, raises money to keep the heat on for financially qualifying families in Ottawa County who have received a utility shut-off notice for gas, electric, water or deliverable fuels like propane. 100% of the funds raised stay in Ottawa County to help your neighbors. The one-time assistance provided by Walk for Warmth funds might be just the help these working families need to settle bills and feel hope for the future.
Funds are raised through pledges, donations and event sponsors. Even if you cannot contribute financially, please join us and walk to raise awareness of the needs in our community.

Poster & T-Shirt Design Contest
Each year, OCCAA invites local high-school-aged artists to create a poster design for Walk for Warmth, OCCAA’s annual two-mile walk that raises funds to help financially qualifying Ottawa County families who have received a utility shut-off notice for gas, electric, water, or deliverable fuels such as propane. Participating is an opportunity to:
- Showcase your talent
- Gain recognition for your work
- Build your portfolio
- Support a meaningful cause
Poster Specifications
- Poster size: 11 x 17 inches
- Resolution: At least 300 dpi
- Bleeds, if applicable: 0.25 inches
- Maintain a safe area of 0.5 inches for text and design elements
- Create the original artwork using Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, or InDesign
Your Poster Must Include
- The OCCAA Primary or Secondary Logo
- The provided QR code and website address: miOttawa.org/w4w
- The Walk for Warmth event date, time, and location
T-Shirt Specifications
Adapt your poster design for use on a T-shirt.
- Use fewer than eight colors
- Resolution: At least 300 dpi
- Use a transparent background
- Create the original artwork using Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, or InDesign
Your T-Shirt Design Must Include
- The OCCAA Primary or Secondary Logo
- The event name 2027 Walk for Warmth
Original Artwork & AI Use
- Poster and T-shirt designs must be original artwork, with the exception of OCCAA logos and provided brand elements.
- AI-generated submissions are not allowed; however, AI tools within graphic design software may be used to support human creativity.
- Trademarked images are not allowed.
- Please proofread your design for typos and missing information before submitting.

Entries Due: November 6, 2026, by 5PM
Winner Announced: November 16, 2026
How to Submit
Email PDF versions of your poster and T-shirt designs to info.occaa@miOttawa.org. Please include the following information with your submission:
- Name
- Age & grade
- Email address
- Phone number
- School, optional
- Guardian name, if under 18
- Guardian email address, if under 18
- Guardian phone number, if under 18
OCCAA will contact the selected artist to request the native design files.
