2026 Parks, Recreation, & Open Space Plan

On January 27, 2026, the Board of Commissioners approved the 2026 Parks, Recreation, & Open Space Plan. This plan is updated every five years to maintain eligibility for State of Michigan grant funding and to guide the future development of parks, trails, and recreational facilities in our community.

2025 Annual Report

The 2025 Annual Report highlights a year of growth, conservation, and connection for Ottawa County Parks. In 2025, 312 acres were added at Rosy Mound Natural Area and the Bend Area, progress continued on the Idema Explorers Trail, and the Idema Explorers Camp opened at Ottawa Sands. Across more than 7,700 acres, staff advanced habitat restoration and welcomed over 2 million visits, while programs, field trips, and volunteers helped connect thousands of people with nature. 2025 Rosy Mound Expansion Plan

Following analysis of the 127-acre Rosy Mound expansion site, three concept plans were shared for public input. Over 1,500 survey responses and feedback from an open house shaped the final master plan, with strong community support for preserving natural habitat, expanding trails, and adding parking.
