Mission Statement
The mission of those serving Georgetown Charter Township as members of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office is to work in conjunction with township officials to preserve public order, support the constitution of the State of MI, and enforce laws and ordinances of our state, county, and township in a professional and courteous manner.
General Information
Law enforcement services are provided to the residents of Georgetown Charter Township by the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office.
Georgetown Charter Township has enhanced their policing efforts through the contracting of additional law enforcement services with the Sheriff’s Office. A product of a special partnership between Georgetown Charter Township, Jenison Area Public Schools and Ottawa County is the School Resource Deputy position at Jenison Public Schools, with significant involvement in the Township during non-committed school hours. Georgetown Charter Township is also committed to traffic safety with the assignment of a full time traffic position.
Paramedic E-Unit
Georgetown Township also contracts with the Sheriff’s Office for 24-hour coverage of a state certified paramedic e-unit which handles medical emergencies. The paramedic units also respond to general police related calls and are involved with traffic enforcement.
All requests for law enforcement service should be made to Central Dispatch at (800) 249-0911 (non-emergency) or in the case of an emergency, call 911 directly.

Home Security Checks
Ottawa County community police officers offer free vacation security checks for residents away from their homes, businesses, or facilities. Deputies will periodically check the exterior of the property to deter burglars and enhance security while the property is unoccupied.

Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office works along side Ottawa County Central Dispatch to maintain an informative contact list for local businesses. This contact list is used in the event that business owners or managers should be contacted during non-business hours.
