Millage Increase on November Ballot
On November 3, voters will consider a 0.20-mill increase to the Parks and Open Space Millage, the first proposed increase above the 0.33-mill rate in 30 years. The proposed increase would provide additional funding to keep pace with a growing community and address priorities residents have identified for the future, including trail connections, natural resource protection, improved access, nature education, and year-round recreation.
Musketawa Trail Grand Reopening on September 11
Major rehabilitation work has brought significant improvements to the Musketawa Trail. About 9.5 miles from Marne Trailhead to Squires Rd. are now open. The remaining section to Ravenna Trailhead is expected to reopen in mid-September.
Bend Area Dedication
Join us as we celebrate the addition of nearly 185 acres to the Bend Area and learn how you can help shape its future during the master planning process this fall and spring. The Ottawa County Parks Foundation will also host its annual meeting before the dedication.
North Ottawa Dunes, Ottawa Sands, & P.J. Hoffmaster Closed Nov 20-23
North Ottawa Dunes, Ottawa Sands, and P.J. Hoffmaster State Park will be closed to the public November 20-23 for the Lakeshore Wildlife Management firearm hunt. Access is by permission only; those in the parks without permission will be ticketed.
