Role of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office
Special Event Services provided by the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office are intended to support public safety operations and law enforcement needs associated with an event. These services are not intended to serve as private security.
Event organizers remain responsible for providing adequate staffing, security personnel, volunteers, medical support, and any additional resources necessary for the safe operation of the event. Sheriff’s Office personnel supplement an event’s overall safety plan but should not be considered the sole security resource.
Permits and Event Requirements
Submission of a Special Event Service Request does not replace any required permits, approvals, or licenses associated with the event.
Event organizers are responsible for complying with all applicable local, township, city, county, and state requirements. The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office does not issue or approve event permits and cannot waive permitting requirements established by other jurisdictions.
